This bill prohibits individuals or entities from selling, leasing, or otherwise transferring ownership of real property in Arizona to "hostile entities," which are defined as governments or their affiliates, subsidiaries, or entities with a majority interest from China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia, as well as individuals who have served in the military of these countries. Existing owners or lessees identified as hostile entities must dispose of their property within one year of the bill's effective date, or within one year of acquiring the interest if acquired after the effective date. If they fail to do so, the state's Department of Administration will take ownership and sell the property at public auction, with proceeds going to the state general fund. County recorders are required to report suspected violations to the Department of Public Safety, which will maintain a public list of prohibited owners and lessees and investigate violations, referring cases to prosecutors and notifying county officials annually. Knowingly acquiring an interest in real property in violation of this section is classified as a class 4 felony.
