This bill expresses the California Legislature's intent to pass future laws that will put into action the recommendations from a report. This report, which is required by law, will examine and suggest new ways to lessen the impact of natural disasters like wildfires and earthquakes, speed up recovery efforts, and fairly distribute the costs and responsibilities among different groups. These new approaches are intended to either work alongside or replace the existing Wildfire Fund, which is a state-managed fund designed to pay for claims related to wildfires that started after July 12, 2019, and is overseen by a Wildfire Fund Administrator in collaboration with various state agencies.
