This resolution recognizes the 30th anniversary of the first flight of the F/A-18E1 Super Hornet, a United States Navy carrier-based, supersonic fighter jet, which occurred on November 29, 1995, in St. Louis, Missouri, and celebrates its 30 years of service to the U.S. Navy and its allies. The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, a larger and heavier evolution of the original F/A-18 Hornet, entered U.S. Navy fleet service in 1999 and has since played a crucial role in national security, including combat operations in Iraq and Syria, aerial engagements, and supporting freedom of navigation in critical waterways like the Red Sea. The resolution also acknowledges the dedication of the pilots, weapons system officers, and maintenance teams who operate and support this multi-role fighter aircraft, highlighting its significance in maintaining naval supremacy and its presence in important training programs and even popular culture, such as the film "Top Gun: Maverick." Finally, it directs that a copy of the resolution be sent to the National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri, where the F/A-18E1 is now displayed.
