This bill requires certain health insurance policies and health maintenance contracts in Florida to cover evidence-based cancer imaging and genetic testing for hereditary cancer risk for individuals with a personal or family history of cancer or an increased risk of cancer, as recommended by healthcare professionals and aligned with the National Comprehensive Cancer Network clinical practice guidelines. "Evidence-based cancer imaging" refers to specific techniques for detecting and treating cancer, while "genetic testing for hereditary cancer risk" involves testing for inherited gene mutations that increase cancer susceptibility. Importantly, this coverage must be provided without any "cost-sharing requirements," meaning individuals will not have to pay deductibles, coinsurance, copayments, or similar out-of-pocket expenses for these tests and imaging. This mandate applies to individual health policies, group, blanket, and franchise policies, as well as health maintenance contracts, and will take effect on July 1, 2026.
