This bill, titled the "Safe Students and Survivors Act," mandates several provisions to enhance sexual assault education and support within Florida's school system. It requires school districts to designate a districtwide sexual assault response liaison who will connect students with law enforcement, counseling, and advocacy services following an assault, with the Department of Health providing training and materials for these liaisons. The bill also establishes the Safe Students and Survivors Grant Program, administered by the Department of Education, to fund partnerships between school districts and local nonprofit organizations for student workshops and staff training on sexual assault prevention and survivor support. Furthermore, it revises health instruction for students in grades 7 through 12 to explicitly include comprehensive education on sexual assault prevention, consent, recognizing abusive behavior, healthy relationships, bystander intervention, and safe reporting procedures, with the State Board of Education authorized to adopt rules for its implementation, all effective July 1, 2026.
