This bill modifies the requirements for obtaining an insurance customer representative license by adding a new pathway for applicants to qualify. Specifically, it amends existing law to allow individuals who have earned certain professional designations from insurance organizations, or a degree from an accredited institution with sufficient insurance coursework, to be eligible. Crucially, it also creates a new requirement for the Department of Education, in collaboration with the Department of Financial Services, to develop a 0.5 credit course in insurance and personal finance by January 1, 2027, which will be available for use in Florida high schools starting with the 2027-2028 school year, and completing this course will also serve as a qualification for the license.
