Additionally, it requires that high school computer science courses, which are intended to provide students with a foundational understanding of AI, should equip them to critically evaluate how AI systems use data, recognize the benefits, limitations, and potential risks of AI, and apply ethical reasoning to its responsible use in academic and personal settings. This legislation aims to enhance students' technological skills and understanding of emerging technologies like AI, with an effective date of July 1, 2026.
