The committee's duties include reviewing the current emergency medical services system, identifying obstacles to its delivery and sustainability, analyzing emergency medicine capacity across rural and urban areas, examining the financial impact of uncompensated care on emergency medicine practices, and gathering input from patients, healthcare providers, and stakeholders. The committee can hold public hearings, request data, and receive staff support from the legislature and the Department of Health Services, with members eligible for expense reimbursement but not compensation. The committee is required to submit annual reports of its findings and recommendations to state leadership and will be repealed on June 30, 2029.
