This bill appropriates $300,000 from the state general fund to the Arizona Department of Corrections for its braille transcription program, which provides materials in braille, a tactile writing system used by people who are blind or visually impaired. This funding is intended to be ongoing for future years, supplementing the current $200,000 annual allocation. The Department of Corrections is also required to submit annual reports by October 15th of 2026, 2027, and 2028 to legislative leaders and the governor, detailing how many students, both within and outside of Arizona, were served by the program in the preceding fiscal year.
