This bill requires the Tennessee Department of Correction to conduct an annual "education assessment" for every inmate serving time for a felony offense, which is defined as an evaluation to determine their highest level of education achieved and their interest in further education. The department must then inform these inmates about available educational programs and opportunities within 90 days of the assessment, either in writing or electronically if possible, with these changes taking effect on July 1, 2026.
