This bill prohibits the operation and promotion of "interactive games" in Maryland, defining them as online or mobile games that use multiple currency systems for prizes or cash and simulate casino games, lottery games, or sports wagering, with an exception for games that only award non-cash prizes. The bill also requires individuals and entities applying for or holding gaming licenses to report any business relationships with entities that support interactive games and to disclose annually any revenue accepted from conducting interactive games in jurisdictions where such games are illegal. Violators face misdemeanor charges with potential imprisonment and significant fines, and their licenses may be denied or revoked. Furthermore, the bill prevents the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (the "Commission") from issuing or continuing licenses for entities or their affiliates that knowingly accept revenue derived from jurisdictions subject to high-risk financial action calls, designated as state sponsors of terrorism, or where online casino gaming is prohibited. This legislation aims to prevent the state from benefiting from or enabling illegal or high-risk gaming activities.
