This bill expands the grounds for disciplinary action by various health occupations boards in Maryland to include situations where a professional has been disciplined by any branch of the uniformed services or the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, in addition to existing provisions for discipline or conviction by courts or licensing authorities in other states or countries. This means that actions taken against a healthcare provider by military or veteran affairs disciplinary bodies can now be considered by Maryland boards when determining if disciplinary action is warranted against that individual's license. The bill also specifically clarifies that for naturopathic doctors, disciplinary action by the State Board of Physicians can include convictions or discipline by courts in any state or country.
