This bill amends the Highway Law to officially include the middle initial "M." in the dedication of a bridge to Detective Thomas Inman, specifically the bridge over the eastbound and westbound lanes of the Southern State Parkway on state route 231 in the town of Babylon, Suffolk County. The existing law, section 344-r of the Highway Law, as added by chapter 398 of the laws of 2025, is being updated to reflect this change. The Commissioner of Transportation will be responsible for installing and maintaining adequate signage that reads "Bridge Dedicated to Detective Thomas M. Inman." However, to prevent confusion and minimize disruption, this dedication is ceremonial, and the bridge's official name will not be changed by this act. The bill takes effect immediately.
