This bill authorizes twenty-four employee positions for the state forestry division within the office of state lands and investments, including four full-time regional fire managers and suppression module leaders, four nine-month temporary full-time positions, and sixteen six-month temporary full-time positions, with the intent that these positions be part of the standard budget for the next two fiscal years. Additionally, it appropriates over five million dollars from the general fund to the office of state lands and investments to establish two wildland fire suppression modules for the state forestry program, which will cover the costs of these authorized positions, support, equipment, and the hiring, training, certification, and supervision of two specialized teams to assist with wildfire suppression and hazardous fuels reduction projects across the state, with these funds to be used only for this purpose and any remaining amounts reverting on June 30, 2028, and with a portion of the appropriation not intended to be included in the standard budget for the next fiscal biennium. This act is set to become effective on April 1, 2026.
