This resolution amends Rule 41 of the Senate's permanent rules, which governs the appointment and confirmation of Senate committees. Previously, the Senate president appointed all conference, special, joint, and standing committees, and these appointments required confirmation by the Senate, with an alternative of election by the Senate if confirmation failed. This amendment specifically updates the names and, in one instance, the total membership of several standing committees, such as changing "Business, Financial Services & Trade" to "Business, Trade & Economic Development" and reducing the membership of the "State Government, Tribal Affairs & Elections" committee from 9 to 7 members.
