This bill modifies existing Oklahoma law to grant the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department, referred to as the Department, more flexibility in managing its annual statewide tourism and recreation industry conference. Specifically, it allows the Department to enter into contracts and agreements for the conference on a fair and reasonable basis, with a spending limit of $75,000. Previously, such authority was vested in a "Commission," but this bill shifts that responsibility to the Department's Executive Director for approving expenditures from a special account where conference fees and other proceeds are deposited. The bill also clarifies that the Department may partner with private entities for the conference's administration and execution, and it sets an effective date of November 1, 2026.
