This resolution designates the third full week of October, starting in 2026 and continuing each year thereafter, as Invisible Disabilities Awareness Week in Virginia. The resolution acknowledges that many Virginians live with medical conditions that are not visible to others, such as neurological, cognitive, mental health disorders, chronic pain, and autoimmune conditions, which can lead to misunderstandings, lack of adequate support, and fear of discrimination or stigma. By establishing this awareness week, the General Assembly aims to promote greater understanding, inclusion, and acceptance for individuals with these non-apparent disabilities, encouraging them to take pride in themselves and participate more fully in their communities. The resolution also directs the Clerk of the House of Delegates to inform the Disability Law Center of Virginia and to post the designation on the General Assembly's website.
