This bill, known as the Nebraska Public Property Disclosure Act, requires political subdivisions, which are local government entities like cities or counties, to hold open and public hearings before selling, leasing, or purchasing real property. During these hearings, any individual can speak for or against the transaction and raise concerns about the property. If the governing body decides to proceed after the hearing, the sale, lease, or purchase must be completed within two months; otherwise, a new hearing is required. Additionally, a public notice of the transaction must be published in a local legal newspaper at least ten days prior to the event, detailing the property's legal description, address, assessed value, proposed price or lease terms, and the names of the parties involved.
