AI Summary

This bill allows individuals whose driver's licenses have been suspended for not complying with child support orders to apply for a "hardship license," which is a special type of driver's license. To get this hardship license, a person must prove to a court that losing their full driving privileges would prevent them from continuing their employment, and this proof must be supported by documentation and a recommendation from the Mississippi Department of Human Services. The hardship license will look different from a regular license, cannot be used for commercial vehicles, and will be valid for four years, with a fee of $25. The bill also makes conforming changes to existing laws regarding driver's license fees and terms, and clarifies that the process for hardship licenses is an exception to the standard procedures for license suspension and reinstatement related to child support non-compliance.
