This bill amends the Public Utility Confidential Security Information Disclosure Protection Act to create an exception to the general prohibition against releasing confidential security information held by public utilities. Previously, agencies were broadly prohibited from disclosing such information. Now, agencies can disclose confidential security information if it is necessary for construction, renovation, or remodeling work on public buildings or projects, provided they notify and consult with the public utility first. This disclosure for construction purposes will not make the information public records under the Right-to-Know Law. Additionally, the prohibition will not apply to confidential security information related to accident investigations conducted by the National Transportation Safety Board.
