This bill establishes a pilot program for a mobile communications platform designed for election workers, including those at polling places, involved in transporting ballots, managing supplies, registering voters, and working at central counting centers. The platform will be developed and managed by the secretary of state in collaboration with county recorders and election officials, and it will be made available to counties, potentially at no or reduced cost, as part of a trial in one or more counties or parts of counties. To fund this initiative, $200,000 is appropriated from the state general fund for the fiscal year 2026-2027, and this provision will be repealed after December 31, 2027.
