If an insurance company cannot obtain the title to a salvage vehicle on its property due to issues with the claim, they must notify the salvage auction dealer to release the vehicle to the owner or lienholder. The salvage auction dealer must then send two notices to the owner or lienholder, informing them the vehicle is available for pickup and detailing any outstanding charges. If the vehicle is not claimed and paid for within thirty days of the first notice, it will be considered abandoned, and its title will be assigned to the salvage auction dealer, allowing them to obtain a new title free of any previous liens or encumbrances by following specific departmental procedures.
