This bill creates a new section of Kentucky law to define "provisional license" and "standard license" for carrying concealed firearms and other deadly weapons. The KSP will notify these provisional license holders before their license expires and provide them with an application to switch to a standard license, which can be submitted to their local sheriff or online to the KSP. The bill also clarifies that provisional license holders do not need to retake firearms training when applying for a standard license and that a standard license will not be valid until the holder turns 21. Finally, the KSP is authorized to create administrative regulations to manage the issuance of both provisional and standard licenses.
