This bill requires hospitals operating emergency departments to maintain a supply of rabies medication for postexposure prophylaxis, which is treatment given after a potential exposure to rabies to prevent the disease. Starting January 1, 2027, these hospitals must be able to provide the first dose of this medication immediately to patients who medically need it upon arrival, and they must ensure that subsequent doses are also available, either by stocking the medication themselves or by making other arrangements for timely access.
