A "public transit agency" is defined as an organization providing public transportation that receives some government funding, and a "transit bus" is a rubber-tired vehicle used for this purpose. The bill outlines how violations captured by these systems will be handled, including how summonses will be issued and the requirement for at least 30 business days for individuals to review evidence before paying a fine. It also permits private vendors to assist with these systems, provided their compensation is based on services rendered, not the number of violations. The systems must capture and analyze images on the bus itself, only transmitting potential violations for further review, and images can be kept for a limited time and used only for enforcing parking rules or inspecting transit facilities, not for other law enforcement purposes. Importantly, these systems are prohibited from using biometric identification like facial recognition, and during the initial 60 days of implementation, only warnings will be issued.
