This bill directs the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, a state agency responsible for overseeing agricultural and consumer protection matters, to establish a work group. This group will consist of individuals and organizations with a vested interest in the issue, referred to as "relevant stakeholders," to examine the advantages, practicality, and consequences of building another animal slaughterhouse in the Northern Virginia region. Following their deliberations, the Department is required to present a report detailing the work group's conclusions and suggestions to the leaders of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources and the House Committee on Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources by December 1, 2027.
