This bill expands the authority of county officials regarding the use of county seals, logos, and insignia, and clarifies the sheriff's role in managing their posse. Specifically, it allows for the use of county seals, logos, or insignia for advertising or commercial purposes only with the approval of the board of supervisors, and also permits the use of a county office's logo or insignia with the approval of the elected official in charge of that office, while prohibiting commercial use without such approval. The bill also clarifies that these provisions do not prevent the use of county symbols for satire or parody. Furthermore, it grants the sheriff the exclusive right to name any posse associated with their office and to dissolve any posse operating under their jurisdiction, and allows authorized members of the sheriff's volunteer posse who have completed approved firearms training to carry a deadly weapon without a permit while on duty.
