This concurrent resolution, meaning it's passed by both houses of the Alabama Legislature, establishes that after recessing on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, both houses will reconvene that evening at 6:00 p.m. in the House of Representatives Chamber of the Alabama State Capitol for a joint session. The purpose of this joint session is for the Legislature to hear a message from the Governor of Alabama, Kay Ivey. To facilitate this, a committee of three senators, appointed by the Senate's Presiding Officer, and three representatives, appointed by the Speaker of the House, will be formed. This committee will have the dual role of informing the Governor that the Legislature is ready to receive her message and escorting her to the House Chamber for the joint session.
