AI Summary

This joint resolution establishes a monthly legislative expense allowance of $1,000 for each member of the South Carolina General Assembly, retroactive to July 1, 2025, and it will be repealed on July 1, 2026. It also outlines how this allowance will be handled for members whose seats become vacant during the 2025-2026 fiscal year, stating that the departing member will only receive the allowance for the months they served, while a newly elected member will receive it only for the months after they took office, including a pro-rated amount for that month. Importantly, members convicted of, pleading guilty to, or pleading nolo contendere (no contest) to a felony during this period will not be eligible for this expense allowance.
