This bill establishes "Commonwealth emergency response pay" for members of the Kentucky National Guard when they are called to state active duty during an emergency declared by the Governor, defining this pay as a monetary incentive for hazardous duty assignments. Hazardous duty is clarified as work with an increased risk of serious injury, illness, or death. The bill also specifies that members, excluding those serving without pay, will receive this Commonwealth emergency response pay, with the Department of Military Affairs tasked with setting pay rates equivalent to two days' pay for every one day of qualifying duty for the initial 72 hours or longer of an emergency response.
