This bill amends Wyoming Statute 9-3-613 to establish a new monthly death benefit for surviving spouses of law enforcement officers who are members of the retirement program and are killed in the line of duty. Specifically, the surviving spouse will receive ninety percent (90%) of the deceased member's salary, with an additional six percent (6%) of that salary for each child under the age of eighteen (18). This provision applies to death benefit distributions made on or after the bill's effective date, which is immediately upon completion of all necessary legislative steps for it to become law.
