Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle that can lead to serious cardiovascular issues and is a leading cause of sudden death in young adults, affecting millions globally each year and often going undiagnosed or misdiagnosed despite the existence of organizations like the Myocarditis Foundation, established to raise awareness and support research. This designation aims to provide Virginians with an opportunity to learn about the disease, support efforts to find a cure, and offer compassion to those affected and their families, with the Clerk of the House of Delegates tasked with informing the Myocarditis Foundation and posting the designation online.
