AI Summary

This bill aims to streamline and standardize the process by which health care providers are credentialed, meaning their qualifications are evaluated and approved, to participate in managed care plans, which are health insurance plans that coordinate financing and delivery of care. Key provisions include requiring insurers and providers to use the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH) credentialing form, a standardized application, and prohibiting insurers from requesting information not on this form or from requiring providers to disclose current or past health conditions unless those conditions directly impact their ability to provide safe and competent care. The bill also eliminates the requirement for providers to be board-certified and consolidates existing credentialing laws by repealing certain sections. Additionally, it ensures that the state employee health plan and health care facilities licensed under KRS Chapter 216B will adhere to these new credentialing requirements, with these changes applying to contracts issued or renewed on or after the bill's effective date, and mandates that administrative bodies update any conflicting regulations.
