This bill requires county coroners, working with the Kentucky Coroners Association (referred to as "the association"), to establish ten emergency response districts, each covering twelve counties, to ensure prompt responses to events involving multiple fatalities across the Commonwealth. Each of these districts will be equipped with an emergency response trailer containing necessary equipment for responding to natural disasters, multiple fatality incidents, or other fatality-related needs. The Division of Emergency Management will create administrative regulations to implement these requirements. The bill also appropriates $200,000 from the General Fund for the fiscal year 2026-2027 to the Military Affairs budget unit, which will then distribute these funds to the Kentucky Coroners Association to cover the costs of purchasing and outfitting these emergency response trailers and their equipment. The bill declares an emergency due to the importance of timely funding for such events and will take effect on July 1, 2026.
