This bill relates to salaries of peace officers of the H.F. _____ department of public safety. The bill provides that annual base salaries for peace officers are as follows: for a peace officer in the grade of sergeant, 15 percent greater than the salary of a senior trooper; for a peace officer in the grade of lieutenant, 10 percent greater than the salary of sergeant; for a peace officer in the grade of captain or special agent in charge, 10 percent greater than the salary of lieutenant; for a major or assistant director, 10 percent greater than the salary of captain or special agent in charge; for a colonel or director, 15 percent greater than the salary of major or assistant director; and sworn supervisors of the department shall receive the same wage, step, and merit increases that are negotiated under Code chapter 20 between the state and the state police officers council labor union.
