This bill directs the Department of Health to establish a work group to review the Virginia State Anatomical Program, which provides donor bodies for medical education and research. This work group will include representatives from medical schools, universities, colleges, allied health programs, research facilities, and relevant professional organizations. Their task is to assess the program's current policies and procedures, evaluate the growing demand for donor materials due to expanding educational programs, and examine the program's finances to see if additional funding is necessary. The work group will then offer recommendations to improve how donors are acquired, distributed fairly and efficiently, and handled, ultimately aiming to strengthen the program for institutions across Virginia. The findings and recommendations are to be submitted to the House Committee on Health and Human Services and the Senate Committee on Education and Health by November 1, 2026.
