Bill Summary
AN ACT To amend Code Section 20-2-771 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to immunization of students, so as to require schools and child care facilities to provide information regarding immunization requirements and exemptions from such requirements to parents and guardians; to provide for an effective date and applicability; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
AI Summary
This bill requires all schools and child care facilities in Georgia to provide parents and guardians with information about required immunizations, as determined by the Department of Public Health, and also about any available exemptions from these immunization requirements. This information about exemptions must be presented in the same way as the information about the immunizations themselves and should explain how parents and guardians can complete the necessary affidavit, which is a sworn statement, to claim an exemption. This new requirement will take effect on July 1, 2026, and will apply to the school year that begins in 2026.
