This bill modifies the Children's Crisis Continuum Pilot Program, a program designed to provide a comprehensive range of services for foster youth experiencing severe behavioral health needs. Primarily, it allows participating entities that don't have a traditional crisis residential program but offer a comparable residential treatment for acute needs to use all their grant funds for other parts of their care continuum. Additionally, the bill provides flexibility for extending the pilot program's grant agreements beyond the initial five-year period, allowing extensions up to July 1, 2030, if a participating entity demonstrates unspent funds and the need to complete program activities, subject to approval by the State Department of Social Services (department) in consultation with the State Department of Health Care Services (DHCS).
