The bill would apply only to costs incurred by local units after the date of enactment of the bill into law.

AI Summary

This bill requires the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to reimburse local entities, such as counties, municipalities, or fire districts, for the costs they incur when responding to emergencies that occur within state parks or forests. To receive reimbursement, these local units must submit an invoice and any other required documentation to the DEP within 30 days of the emergency response, and the DEP will then have 30 days to issue the payment. This provision is intended to ensure that local governments are not financially burdened by emergency responses on state property and will only apply to costs incurred after the bill becomes law.
