This bill requires the Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development (DOLWD) to create a program to find and encourage unemployed individuals to take jobs in healthcare facilities, home care services, and hospice services, working with the Department of Health and healthcare industry representatives. The program will assess if it's practical to train someone for a specific job, consider how close the job is to their home and their transportation options, and identify any obstacles preventing them from starting work immediately, even if it's a probationary period until training is complete. The Commissioner will also establish rules and regulations to put this into effect, and $250,000 is being allocated from the General Fund to support training programs and resources for eligible individuals, working with existing DOLWD training initiatives.
