This bill mandates that within 365 days of its enactment, the State Chief Technology Officer, working with relevant state agencies, must transform the existing MyNJHelps online platform, which currently serves programs like SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for food), WFNJ (Work First New Jersey for cash assistance), and NJFamilyCare (New Jersey's health insurance program for families), into a single, centralized online portal for all state-administered public assistance programs. This means individuals will be able to find information about, apply for, and track the status of all these programs through one accessible application on MyNJHelps. The bill clarifies that this consolidation will not change which agency is responsible for administering each program, but it will require data sharing agreements between agencies to ensure eligibility determinations and status updates can be managed effectively. A "public assistance program" is defined as any program providing benefits to low-income New Jersey residents through a means-tested process, including but not limited to healthcare, pharmaceutical, food, cash, child care, housing, and utility assistance.
