Bill Summary
This bill provides that an employer who employs employees who are engaged in performing service in the ready-mix concrete industry and are under contract pursuant to a collective bargaining agreement is in compliance with the State's earned sick leave law if the employer offers fully paid time off, of any kind, including but not limited to, personal days, vacation days, and sick days, of 40 or more hours per benefit year, to employees who are under contract pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement, and that the paid time off may be used for those purposes provided for in the collective bargaining agreement. The bill does not apply to any employee that is currently excluded under the earned sick leave law.
AI Summary
This bill modifies New Jersey's earned sick leave law to provide an alternative compliance method for employers in the ready-mix concrete industry whose employees are covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Specifically, these employers will be considered in compliance if their collective bargaining agreement guarantees employees at least 40 hours of fully paid time off per benefit year, which can be used for any purpose outlined in the agreement, including personal days, vacation days, and sick days. This provision does not apply to employees already excluded from the earned sick leave law.
