AI Summary
This bill mandates increased reporting requirements for state, regional, and local correctional facilities concerning pregnant and postpartum inmates. State correctional facilities will now be required to submit a monthly summary to the Director of the Department of Corrections detailing the number of pregnant prisoners, those in postpartum recovery, the total number of women prisoners, the overall inmate population, and any prisoner deaths, specifically noting deaths of pregnant or postpartum individuals. This summary will also be sent to the Maternal Mortality Review Team and the Chairs of the House and Senate Committees for Courts of Justice. Additionally, sheriffs and jail superintendents of local and regional facilities will compile quarterly summaries of specific reports related to the use of restraints on pregnant or postpartum inmates and any body cavity searches of pregnant inmates, submitting these to the relevant board. These local and regional facilities will also submit quarterly data on pregnant and postpartum inmates, total female inmates, overall inmate population, and deaths of pregnant or postpartum inmates to the Compensation Board, which will then share this information with the Maternal Mortality Review Team and the legislative committee chairs.
