This bill requires the Secretary of State to notify Congress at least 15 days before obligating funds for certain art-related purchases that exceed $37,500. This notification requirement applies to purchases made under the Art in Embassies Program, which acquires art for U.S. diplomatic facilities, as well as purchases of art, furnishings, or design elements for residential design programs and single projects, acquisitions, or commissioning of art, design, or restoration services under the Cultural Heritage Program, which preserves culturally significant elements at diplomatic facilities. The notification must include a description of the item or service, its purpose and intended location, the estimated cost, and the source of funds. The "appropriate congressional committees" are defined as the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
