This joint resolution commends the Alabama Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (ASDAR) and the Alabama Society Sons of the American Revolution (ALSSAR) for their significant contributions to Alabama and the nation. The resolution highlights the organizations' dedication to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and supporting education, noting that the ASDAR, founded in 1894, comprises over 4,000 members in 71 chapters and is affiliated with the national DAR, a women's service organization focused on historic preservation, education, and patriotism. The ASDAR's efforts include erecting monuments, preserving historical records, supporting veterans, and sponsoring student awards, as well as founding and sustaining the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School, which provides education to over 1,300 students in a disadvantaged region. The ALSSAR, whose members can trace their lineage to patriots of the Revolutionary War, is recognized for fostering education, preserving historical records and landmarks, and promoting fellowship among descendants of patriots, while also advancing American ideals through programs that recognize academic achievement and community involvement. The Legislature expresses its sincere best wishes for the continued success of both organizations.
