This bill expands the "Prohibited Area" around polling places, which is a designated zone where campaigning and certain other election-related activities are unlawful. Previously, this area extended 40 feet from any entrance to a polling place. Now, it will also include a 10-foot radius around any designated curbside voting area, which is a space set up outside the polling place for voters to cast their ballots from a vehicle. This change aims to further protect the integrity of the voting process by creating a larger buffer zone around all voting locations, including those accessible from vehicles.
