It also prohibits operators from offering rewards to minors at unpredictable intervals to encourage engagement and requires reasonable measures to prevent conversational AI services from generating inappropriate content for minors, including visual material of sexual conduct, direct encouragement of sexual conduct, or statements that sexually objectify them. Furthermore, operators must prevent AI from falsely claiming sentience, simulating emotional dependence, or engaging in romantic or sexual innuendos with minors, and must clearly disclose when a service is AI if a reasonable person might believe they are interacting with a human. The bill also mandates that operators provide tools for minors and their parents or guardians to manage privacy and account settings, and establish protocols for responding to prompts about suicidal ideation or self-harm by referring users to crisis services. Operators are prohibited from falsely claiming their AI provides professional mental health care, and violations can result in injunctions and civil penalties, with enforcement handled by the attorney general.
