This bill expands the ability of Masonic lodges in Tennessee to acquire and manage property. Previously, Masonic lodges themselves could directly purchase or receive real and personal property, such as for building or maintaining their halls or burial grounds. Now, this authority is extended to include Masonic lodge-sponsored corporations or limited liability companies (LLCs), which are entities created by the lodge for specific purposes. These sponsored entities can now also lease or rent property to the lodge or other organizations. The bill clarifies that this change does not impact property transfers that happened before the law takes effect and defines a "masonic lodge-sponsored corporation or limited liability company" as one established by the lodge's officers or members and acting under their authorization.
