This bill extends by one year the timeframe for which the Tennessee Department of Transportation must submit its annual report to the state legislature concerning data on blocked highway-rail grade crossings, which is collected by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), a U.S. government agency that oversees rail safety. Specifically, the bill amends Tennessee Code Annotated (TCA) Section 65-3-124, changing the reporting period from "2022--2026" to "2022--2027" and pushing the final reporting date from July 1, 2027, to July 1, 2028, thereby delaying the conclusion of this reporting requirement.
