This bill directs the Director of the Department of General Services, referred to as the Director, to establish a goal for transitioning the Commonwealth's centralized fleet, which refers to state-owned vehicles managed centrally, to electric vehicles. This goal must align with the Commonwealth Clean Energy Policy, a state plan for clean energy, and include specific interim targets for the years 2028, 2030, and 2032. Additionally, the Director is tasked with setting targets for the number and types of electric vehicle charging stations to be installed at state facilities by those same years. These charging station targets should consider what is achievable with current funding from the Department of General Services and what could be accomplished if additional funds were available, with the aim of ensuring that the availability of charging stations does not hinder the shift to electric vehicles within the state fleet. Finally, the Director is required to submit a report detailing his findings and recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly by October 1, 2026.
